Losing a debit card or a credit card is classed as an emergency, because criminals could have access to your card details. To prevent fraud on your account, notify RBS as soon as possible so that they can cancel your card.
What happens next?
When you call RBS to report a lost or stolen card, you will be put through to a customer service advisor on the RBS security team. The advisor will ask you which card you have lost or had stolen, and they will cancel it for you immediately. A new card will then be requested for you. Your new card will be created within a few days, and it will be posted out to you.
Your new debit or credit card will use the same PIN number as the old card. However, since it is a new card, it will have a unique 16-digit card number and a new 3-digit security code, which can be found on the back of your card. You will need to input these new numbers or have them to hand if you wish to purchase something online or over the telephone.
Report a lost or stolen RBS card online
Alternatively, you can report a lost or stolen card online and request a new one online. To do this, log in to your digital banking account at https://www.rbsdigital.com. When logged in, select ‘Cards’ from the left-hand menu and select ‘Report your card lost and order a replacement’. Then, all you do is fill in the details form and click ‘Confirm’. A new debit or credit card will then be requested and posted out to you when ready.
